About L.U.C.K

The University of Lincoln Canoe and Kayak Team, found in the heart of the historic city of Lincoln, East Midlands, is a team open to any student of the university which welcomes people of all levels of experience including those who have never tried it before.

The team has progressed over the past few years since its creation to become the club we have today. We are not just a team focused on kayaking and canoeing but are also a close group who regularly take part in social events. This year we are fortunate enough to have the assistance of After Adventures, coaching and qualifications in kayaking and beyond. We all from L.U.C.K thank them greatly for everything they have done for us so far.

Every year the club expands and this year is no different where we hope to entering the BUCS events like the Washburn Wildwater Race with the possibility to enter the slalom event, if only just for fun. Otherwise every year you can be sure to see us around the country in events such as Tyne Tour in Hexham near Newcastle, NSR Nottingham, Newquay for a week of surf kayaking on the sea plus a few smaller day trips here and there just to keep us entertained! If you want the stories just ask a team member in a LUCK hoodie!

The Committee

Each year the team elects a committee at the annual AGM. The committee are in charge of running the team on behalf of it's members, that includes organising trips, socials and the team finances. The current committee recently elected for 2011/12 are as follows:

President Daniel Woodhouse

Vice President Graeme Carlisle

I'm 20 years old, a 3rd year journalism student at Lincoln and the Vice President of this fine club. I've been kayaking since I was eight, and I love it. I also like curry and beer if you wanna get on my good side.

Treasurer Ben Henderson

Hi I'm Ben Henderson, i'll be the club treasurer for the next year. I'm currently studying Business and Finance and despite having only started kayaking last year will do my best to make the year as enjoyable and cheap for all!Oh and I'm also an avid scuba diver.

Social Secretary Sam Thornley

So my job is social secretary for LUCK, I simply organise the best nights out, events and of course Newquay with the lovely Kelly. If you have an idea let me know and we will see what we can do. I aim to keep you all happy and make LUCK the best social society the University of Lincoln has seen!

kellySocial Secretary Kelly Caschere

Kelly says she's pretty awesome. If awesomeness had a picture, it would be her face. Apparently she's also the smartest and most beautiful person you will ever meet and aims to make the social side of Kayaking, the greatest Lincoln University has ever seen in any of its societies or clubs.

Media / Web Ben Atkinson

Having just finished the first year of my Media Production degree, I'm very excited to be taking on the role of Media / Web secretary for 2011/2012. I've not done much Kayaking before, but i'd like to think I'm learning fast!

Kit Secretary Dave Gibson

Some say Dave is probably way too obsessed with kayaking; it’s not as if he lives, breathes and dreams of kayaking. He's the kit sec for L.U.C.K and this means he spends too much time looking for new and the best kit for the club, when he should be working in the studio.
